Professor Serifat Olubunmi LABO-POPOOLA holds a 2002 PhD degree in Educational Evaluation from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria; a Master’s degree in Educational Management; a Master’s in Industrial & Labour Relations; a Bachelor of Education (Teacher Education); and a Nigeria Certificate in Education.
Serifat Labo-Popoola started work as a Graduate Teacher with the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission in December, 1985. She got an Inter-State transfer to Osun State in 1993, being married to an Osun indigene. After nine years in the then Osun State Teaching Service Commission, she was promoted as a Vice-Principal in 2002 and later became a Principal in 2006.
With the establishment of state and private universities in Osun State, she decided to join Fountain University, Osogbo in 2008. She had to withdraw her services from the Osun State Teaching Service Commission voluntarily. At Fountain University, she coordinated the General Studies Unit, taught Use of English as well as supervised the Student Affairs Unit. She served on many Committees in the University. She rose to become a Lecturer I before joining the services of Adeleke University, Ede in November, 2011 as a Senior Lecturer.
At Adeleke University, she was at various times, Head, Department of Languages and Literary Studies; Chairperson of many Senate-Committees; and, presently the Dean, Faculty of Arts. She has published in reputable outlets. She belongs to academic, professional and religious organizations such as EARNIA, ASSEREN, RAN and The Criterion.
She remains a resource person in academic, counselling and religious endeavours. She is a regular voice on radio and television. She is happily married with children and a granddaughter.
